Soi Branding

SOI // BIG&SMALL

Logo, stationery system, menus, interior graphics signage

The Soi logo was developed from the symbiotic relationship between the water buffalo and the oxpecker bird. These two common Thailand animals of very disparate sizes help each other to maintain a healthy life. This symbolizes the relationship between the owners of the restaurant, one exceptionally tall, one exceptionally petite, with very different roles in the business, they help each other to make a success. The logo was developed modularly so that all of the different elements could be used for various collateral projects.

  • brand identity

We created a business card for Soi using the logo on the front and incorporating a map of Thailand with a map of Capitol Hill, where the restaurant is located, on the back.

We developed a menu system for Soi that incorporated the logo graphics and expanded on them to make a set of lively interesting menus.

We designed a map of Thailand for the restaurant interior composed of a series of dots, made from C&C cut metal, lit from behind. Like pixels the image is clearer the further away from it you are.

The Soi sign was constructed of concrete and steel, with a giant water buffalo and bird on the top. It is meant to naturally weather to a rusty orange color.
